Road mainetnance process for old asphalt mixture surface pavement of hot in-place recycling
①. Preparation work before pavement treatment
②. Original pavement heating(surface layer heating)
③. Milling of original pavement (surface layer scarifying)
④. Heating the Road trough(second layer heating)
⑤. Road trough milling/scarifying(second layer milling)
⑥. Double-layer heatign unit heats the recycled mixture
⑦. Lifting remixer heats and mixes the recycled mixture
Lifting remixer tightly follows the two-layer heater, front heating plate heats the mixture that loose laying on the recycled lane for the last time, collector behind the heating plate collects the heated mixture toward the middle of the lane, the elevator collects the mixture to the mixing tank, which would fall onto paver after mixing, then paving starts,material temperature is around 145℃. Above the top surface of the road trough about 2m in front the paver, infrared heating plate installed below the elevator continuous heats the top and side of the road trough, ensuring the joint temperature above 90℃.
⑧. Paving
The surface temperature of the lower bearing layer before paving is more than 90℃, ensures the intact hot bonded of the both sides’ longitudinal joints and the middle and upper layer. There is barely no difference between mixing temperature in mixing tank and paving temperature, so the paving temperature is around 145℃,
⑨. Rolling
After paving the mixture, manually repair the irregular places, timely clean the sundries out of rolling range on old pavement, following the principle of “follow closely,slow rolling, uniform speed; sides first, middle last”, evenly and fully compacted .
10. Joint treatment
Start point, end point and both sides of the longitudinal direction are all hot seams. If the local evenness of the transverse joint is poor, improve it by oblique vibratory rolling; paving thickness of the longitudinal joint must be strict controlled to avoid elevation difference, to ensure the pavement joints compaction, smooth and straight connect.
11. Test
Inspect the asphalt content and aggregate composition of new mixture by carrying on extraction screening test from on-site random inspection of new asphalt mixture; random inspect the recycled mixture for extraction screening and Marshall test, inspect the asphalt content and aggregate composition of recycled mixture and stability, flow rate and voidage; carry on the detection and tracking of compactness, water penetration, thickness, construction depth toward the finished section of the road.
12. Open the traffic
Open the traffic only after the road surface temp. is less than 50 degrees after completion of the construction.
